Best Autobiographical One-Man Show: “Sped Kid” by Adam Linn

Sped Kid is a story about navigating loss and the things and people we hold onto in the process. With a sold-out premiere that earned him a second performance, Adam Linn proved that there are always ways to see and be seen in the world, so long as we have the courage to find them.

allaboutSOLO

Boston 1984

Adam recounts his experiences of going blind and leaving an all white Catholic school, becoming a special Ed kid at a mostly all black public school during the height of the racial tensions in Boston.

The play covers a lot of serious topics, but is fast paced and often comedic in tone with a lot of period music, Prince, Michael Jackson, Sugar Hill Gang, and others.

Katie Blub is a plain spoken Brooklyn girl who finds herself in a life or death struggle against a misogynistic reality TV show host bent on world domination. Sound familiar?  Stop crying over politics and read the book.
